Manhattan SEZ Makes Strong Debut at GR Tire Expo, Draws Interest from 50+ Global Manufacturers

Guangrao, China | May 17, 2025 — The 15th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition concluded successfully, attracting over 800 companies across the tire industry supply chain. Among the highlights was the debut of the Manhattan Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Cambodia’s first established SEZ, which garnered significant attention from attending manufacturers.

Over the course of three days, the Manhattan SEZ welcomed inquiries from more than 50 companies, with over 10 expressing a clear intent to conduct on-site visits in Cambodia. The Zone has emerged as a practical gateway for tire manufacturers seeking to expand overseas capacity and mitigate global trade uncertainties.

This year’s exhibition brought together industry giants, including all of the global top 10 tire companies, as well as more than 50 Fortune Global 500 firms and 75 leading players in the tire sector. Leading brands such as Zhongce, Sailun, Cheng Shin, Continental, and Yokohama gathered to explore how global expansion could address the growing pressures of production capacity constraints and export challenges.

During the event, Manhattan SEZ engaged in in-depth discussions with industry leaders. Two recurring themes dominated conversations:

  • Rising Pressure on Capacity Expansion

Manufacturers are increasingly accelerating their overseas capacity plans to improve market responsiveness and reduce trade-related risks. Based on industry insights, many companies have identified 2025 as a critical milestone for establishing overseas production lines.

  • Cost Advantage in Raw Material Sourcing

Located near Thailand and Vietnam—two of the world’s largest natural rubber producers—Cambodia enables manufacturers to source raw materials more efficiently. Compared to imports from China, procurement and logistics costs can be reduced by approximately 30%, helping companies optimize overall manufacturing expenses.

Beyond supply chain advantages, the Manhattan SEZ’s strategic location continues to attract attention. Situated along the Cambodia–Vietnam border, the Zone offers direct connectivity to Ho Chi Minh City and the Port of Saigon, positioning it as both a competitive manufacturing base and a strategic springboard into U.S. and European markets.

Several industry leaders—including Sailun, General, Doublestar, Wanli, ZD Tyres, and Top Industries—have already set benchmarks by successfully expanding abroad. Building on this momentum, the Manhattan SEZ remains committed to supporting manufacturers with fully developed industrial infrastructure, one-stop investment services, and a robust regional supply network.
